Over mijn kunstenaarspraktijk
Ik ben Wouter, beeldend kunstenaar / animatieregisseur. Sinds 2018 ontwikkel ik autonome kunstprojecten, vaak in relatie tot maatschappelijke en publieke contexten. Mijn werk is bekroond en geselecteerd voor gerenommeerde festivals zoals Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film, Anifilm en Kaboom Animation Festival en maakt onderdeel uit van Korte Film Poule | EYE en Les in beeld | JEF..
Mijn werk nodigt uit tot kijken, meedenken en licht ongemakkelijk lachen. Het stelt vragen zonder pasklare antwoorden. Onder mijn werk ligt een door mijzelf diepgevoelde existentiële twijfel en zwaarte. Personages spelen hierin een centrale rol. Door hun ogen probeer ik complexe thema’s te begrijpen, zonder ze glad te strijken of moreel dicht te timmeren. Humor en absurditeit zijn kenmerkend voor mijn werk. Vanuit die houding werp ik nieuw licht op hedendaagse thema’s. Daarnaast gebruik ik 3D-animatie en bewegend beeld als ontwerpend onderzoek.
On Tour
Ook organiseer ik Q&A’s, workshops, lezingen en publieksgesprekken over animatie en beeldende kunst waar ik deelnemers meeneem in het ontwikkelen van een eigen beeldtaal!
Ik studeerde aan de Universiteit Utrecht, de HKU en NCCA Bournemouth University, waar ik mijn master behaalde.
